I’m making up for my lack of posting by creating a feel-good tag. Feels like I’m in 7th grade or something but what’s the big deal anyway? :)

1- I know it sounds superduper geeky but I love my books. Like I love my mugs. Even though tea sometimes gives me palpitations and espresso is a killer. I digress. I love books signed by their authors and I have two of those. I wish I could somehow get my Pir-e-Kamil and Time Traveller’s Wife and a collection of Pablo Neruda’s poems. I honestly wish I could mention some truly prolific writers but I won’t because I find some highly overrated. Not all.

2-I love my travel experiences. I love them. I would give up shopping any day for travel. Any freaking day. (I thought I’d exaggerate to get my point across, some secret guilty compulsive need to be acknowledged) I loved being lost in Langkawi, in Houston, in Miami, in Dublin and Penang. It’s a dream come true, only when I’m lost have I met the most amazing, most kind people, stumbled on the best beaches and eaten the most exotic food.

3- Some teachers. Not the text book kind, but people who have taught me things. On the road, in the plane, in my house. For the longest time, I’ve been downloading lectures of a professor who teaches at a business school in another city. Just random teachers who move mountains.

4-It’s cliched but yes my family. They object to half the things I do. Half the things I want to do, yet they support and unsupport for all the right reasons. Their genetic pool encompasses quirks and wisdom and those beautiful eyes that we all share. I am not self-obsessing but merely stating the truth.

5- All my friends. It’s not because I think they’re rockstars because they all are, in their respective ways but because friends tell you you’re pretty when you feel like a hag. Then as soon as you start feeling gorgeous they give you reality checks about your fat deposits and other things. Then they cook for you, give you pink pills, listen to you crib, wake up for you, talk you through troublesome parts of life and always always remind you of God. They always pray for you, that makes them beautiful and sparkly people because they can mend broken hearts.

6- For my life. For everytime I have been ungrateful I want to close my eyes and recite a silent prayer of thanks. I’ve been blessed. Always. Always. MashAllah.

7- For Allah. He completes me. In more ways than one. He makes me feel perfect. Every time I see a flaw He helps me to hide it. He forgives me. He takes me in when I don’t feel like being of the hijab- of the Islam- and don’t judge me but sometimes when you want to do things for the nafs you don’t feel very very Muslim. But I am grateful that even in those not very very Muslim times, I can feel Him. To Him I belong.

What are you grateful for?

I tag everyone or anyone, I don’t think anyone comes here anymore, thanks to my laziness. :(
